These days, as art prices rise, dealers cannot afford to keep all the art consigned to them on their own premises because of safety and insurance costs.  An Observer article reported the case of artist Mr. Caterbetti:  according to the lawsuit filed in 2014, 35 of his missing artworks were eventually located in homes of relatives of the gallery owner, among other cases of stored or consigned art going astray.  It is important that you have regular, visual inspection of your artwork in storage or on consignment.
